Christmas. It's starting.

Just have to get this out of the way:  I'm dreading Christmas, the gift giving, the decorations, the songs, the commercials, the blog posts, the movies, the specials, the Christmas episodes of all (many, many - I watch too much t.v.) my shows, the recipes, the planning guides - all of it.  Not having money for gifts and not having little ones has sucked all the joy out of the holiday for me.  My kids only want expensive gifts and spend no time at home at all (holiday or no holiday).  I would like to give each of them a little extra money and call it a day.

Humbug.

  1. With all that you are going thru right now I would make things as easy as possible for yourself. If youdo twang to put up a tree that's your prerogative and you would not be the only parent with grown children that skips it once in a while.
If you don't want to watch any tv with Christmas themes the don't. I think it's time for you to take care of yourself. But I don't mean to retreat into yourself. Try to do a few things that feel right, just don't push too much (does that make sense?)
As for gifts for the kids, don't go overboard, especially if there's some issues with money or your relationship with them just do what you can. Since my kids were in HS we have given them money as a gift. I don't like that, but it's what they want, all I do now is a stocking for them.
I have trouble with the holidays too and I take it one day at a time. I do try to do a few things such as my Husbands Christmas Party at work.it's hard to go with my anxiety issue, but I always feel better after. But I do skip other things. I stopped baking cookies, which I can live without.
    I hope this helps

  2. So reading your blog it's not Christmas you and SP are dreading but what it's come to stand for. Nothing wrong in that.
What kind of Christmas would you like (same question to you SP) I'd like to eat less. Be a bit more usful (with the washing up etc) and share it with people who are willing to make a bit of an effort.
Lets see if we can map out a proper Christmas amongst us :-)
    Onwards and upwards etc etc......

  3. I am already tired of Christmas. I heard a carol that other day and the stores are already decked out. I would love to focus on turkeys for a bit though.
